How is Your Soul? 04-13-09
This was originally an email that I had sent to two of my favorite women. As I began writing, I realized that it would make great blog material. So here goes:
How are you? Really. How is your soul?
I am very aware of mine right now. I am paying attention today. It is such a challenge to live authentically sometimes. I get swept up in the surface of life, and forget to dive deeply in to see whats really there, beyond the artificial, the everyday mundane. When I do dive in, I am always amazed.
I read a Daily OM this morning. It was about raising your vibration, and I loved it. I felt like Spirit was speaking directly to me. Telling me to live up to my vibration. To be vibrant. To live with vibrancy.
And how do we do that? When we are caught up in the everyday, job, family, school, life... How do we live it with vibrancy? I always give myself the excuse, "Someday, when I can afford to, I will follow my soul purpose. It will be there waiting for me, as it is within me" But what if I miss my opportunity? What if my Soul's purpose is transferred to someone else who is ready to receive it, to claim it, to effect the world in the way it needs to be done? So I am sitting here in reflection, trying to find the balance, trying to seek light into the shadows of my life, and illuminate that which needs to be lovingly brought out to love.
A dear friend of mine and avid blogger is also peeling back her own layers trying to discover what is down deep within her. Trying to understand what she is all about, trying to live in a whole way, authentically. She is showing up for herself. Being present.
How do we live in vibrancy? How do we remember the joy that is meant for us? How do we express ourselves as Shaman, wise women, wholeness? Is it the little things?
When you do things from your soul, you feel a river moving in you, a joy. ~Jalaluddin Rumi, translated by Coleman Barks
We Are Three
I ask you right here and right now, what are you doing for your soul? How are you expressing yourself?
To tackle vibrancy and raising my own, right now I am reading a children's book, at the request of my 11 year old boy. Peter and the Secret of Rundoon. It is an adventure, and full of vibrancy. I love it. I am wearing my beautiful Vancouver Farmer's Market bracelet with the dragon flies, and the swirls and the purple beads, and sparkly stones, because it says vibrancy to me. I am wearing a beautiful swirly blue and cream dress shirt, because it says happy, and beautiful to me.
I am wearing a "Half smile" on my face at every moment as my friend Rev. Kathleen Verigin suggests, for not only peace for me, but also to transfer peace to anyone that sees me.
Most of all, I am following through on an old decision to find 5 things to be grateful for every single day.
1. The red cardinal that wakes us with a song every single morning.
2. Warm snuggly hugs from my 8 year old little girl.
3. The wisdom of my 14 year old to remember to lighten up once in a while.
4. The butterfly excitement/warm peaceful love enveloping my body every single time I hear my beloved's sexy voice on the phone.
5. Dagoba Chocolate
What are you grateful for?
